Greek Island Cruises
- Explore the marvels of Art & Architecture
Explore the lands where Western Civilization was born and where the fine art of living
has been perfected ever since. Greek Island Cruises present an enjoyable combination of natural beauty,
azure seas and an introduction to an amazing culture with a history that dates back to early
pre-historic times.
Our Greek Island cruises offer a choice of the more famous ports, as well as some of the
more remote and quiet spots in Europe. Among the many ports that we offer are Santorini, Mykonos,
Rhodes & Crete. In addition, some Greek Island cruises include a few other ports in the
Mediterranean such as Istanbul and Kusadasi, Turkey or Venice, Italy.
You'll find beautiful beaches, white-washed buildings and blue-domed churches along the way, plus
magnificent antiquities and ruins of ancient civilizations. Shoppers will also love cruising through
the Greek Islands, as the country's low cost of living offers visitors some great buys.

Find the right cruise:
There are many options to choose from when selecting which Greek Island cruise is right for
you, but all will lead to an unforgettable vacation. Many Greek cruises are round trip from
Athens, Greece, sometimes listed as Piraeus, the sea port for this expansive capital. Piraeus is a short
(20-30 minute) train ride from the center of Athens. Once in Piraeus, it is easiest to take a taxi to the ship,
since you will have luggage with you.
One of the possible cruise programs is a round trip Athens cruise
that sails through the Cyclades (Santorini, Mykonos, Delos), to Kusadasi, Turkey, the
gateway to Ephesus. This is one of the most important archeological sites in Europe. Here many of the original
buildings still stand including ancient amphitheater. Some itineraries also include some other ports on the
Turquoise coast.
However, if you would like to concentrate on Greece, other
itineraries will sail south, through the Cyclades and down to the Island of Crete. Crete is home to
Knossos Palace, the largest remaining site of the Bronze Age architecture on the island.
Some other itineraries travel from Athens to Istanbul, or the reverse. These cruises allow passengers to spend more
time in Turkey, and experience the Black Sea.
An alternative and equally beautiful program sails from Athens to Venice through the Adriatic
Sea and from Athens to Rome.
Extend your
vacation:
Most of us think of Greece as a series of beautiful
islands. However, no trip to Greece is complete without experiencing some of its mainland
treasures. Historic sites in Athens include the Acropolis, the Placa, the Academy of Athens and Mount
Lycabettus should not be missed.
North of Athens, Greece becomes green and mountainous. In Meteora,
500 year old monasteries and convents are perched high above the plains on sandstone pillars. It is a breathtaking
sight, and well worth the energy needed to climb all the stairs to the top.
Thessaloniki, is the second largest city in Greece and is the
capital of Macedonia region. It has a younger feel to it since it is the home of two large Greek
Universities.
