19-Jun-2014 |
Kiel/Germany, departure 19.00
hrs
Kiel
is the “gateway to Scandinavia”. From this
city, set sail with the EUROPA 2 – on the fjord – for
Copenhagen, a city which combines city flair and a relaxed
atmosphere.

20-Jun-2014 |
Copenhagen/Denmark, 8.00 – 18.00
hrs
Enjoy an atmospheric
break with a wide range of impressions. Take a city tour* and meet the
Little Mermaid and visit Amalienborg Castle, the residence of the royal
family. You can tell whether the queen is at home or not by the flag.
Afterwards, stroll through the bustling district of Nyhavn and the old
town, where the half-timbered houses and cobbled streets lend a distinctive
air. Copenhagen is suited to more than just pedestrians: nowhere else in
Europe is there a higher volume of cyclists. The outstanding cycle path
network offers the best conditions for a cycling tour* past the tourist
highlights, such as the Royal Danish Theatre and Tivoli Gardens amusement
park and pleasure gardens. Discover royal Copenhagen* with two of the most
beautiful castles in Denmark and interesting insights into the monarchy:
Rosenborg Castle presents the private collections of Danish kings, ranging
from paintings to sculptures, and Christiansborg Castle was the royal
residence until 1794.

21-Jun-2014 |
Gothenburg/Sweden, 7.00 – 17.00
hrs
On the following day,
travel to Gothenburg. Just
like in Copenhagen, this city has tightly packed sights and numerous shops.
In the city centre, Goetaplatsen square houses the city’s landmark, the
Poseidon fountain. Avenyn Boulevard features shops and street cafes and in
Haga, the oldest district dating back to the 18th century, antique shops
and fashion boutiques line the streets. Experience the true “Gothenburg
feeling” on a historical tram tour* in a tram from 1928 – besides
Norrkoeping, Gothenburg is the only Swedish city to use trams as means of
public transportation. The country house Tjoloeholm was constructed in the
English Tudor style between 1898 and 1904 – with lots of attention to
detail and the latest technology of the time, such as Sweden’s oldest
vacuum cleaner which weighs several tonnes. Alternatively, explore
Gothenburg from the water on a kayak tour*. Enjoy the sea breeze as
fishermen’s houses and colourful cottages line the banks of the Eskils
canal.

Day passage along the Kiel Canal, 10.00 –
20.00 hrs
Cross the
Kiel Canal on the third day of your short trip: it is almost
100 kilometres long and is the most-travelled artificial sea lane in the
world. Originally constructed for military purposes, today the Kiel Canal
supports the trade of goods between coastal states on the Baltic Sea and
their trading partners around the world. Let the northern German landscape
drift by and take advantage of the range of opportunities on board, ranging
from the latest methods of active fitness training to dancing in the
atmospheric Sansibar.
