Canals, diamonds and Delft tiles – Amsterdam and its charm make for a fascinating concluding backdrop to your cruise on board the EUROPA 2.

The highlights of this cruise:

  • The castles on the Loire*.
  • Nature: the verdant Channel Islands of Sark and Guernsey.

Date Destination
Lisbon/Portugal, departure 18.00 hrs
Relaxation at sea
Bilbao/Spain, 8.30 – 18.00 hrs

On the Tejo at sunset: leave the explorer’s landmark of Lisbon behind and set out on your own adventures in Bilbao. Wander through the streets of the old town and visit the majestic Gothic Catedral de Santiago (St James’ Cathedral). The city landmark of Bilbao is no less impressive: the famous Guggenheim Museum*. The building alone is worth a visit, with its steel, stone and titanium construction.

Nantes/France, arrival 19.45 hrs

The trip to Nantes, situated 50 kilometres inland on the Loire, is a special experience – amongst other sights, you will pass St-Nazaire, where the EUROPA 2 was constructed. Nantes itself promises relaxing hours with a combination of historic sites, such as the Cathedral of St Peter and St Paul and bustling shopping districts. Take part in a wine-tasting event in Chateau de Goulaine* or let the waterside promenades drift by on a canoe trip along the Erdre* River.

Nantes, departure 20.30 hrs
Le Palais/Belle-Ile/France, 8.00 – 14.00 hrs

The mighty walls of the citadel of Vauban dominate the port of Le Palais on Belle-Ile.

Sark/Channel Islands/Great Britain, 8.00 – 12.00 hrs
St Peter Port/Guernsey/Channel Islands/Great Britain, 13.00 – 19.00 hrs

Your panoramic cruise route through the islands* is lined by idyllic villages – the ideal way to get in the mood for the small island of Sark, which has no traffic and which you can easily explore on foot. The Seigneurie is definitely worth a visit, and its gardens are amongst the most beautiful in the Channel Islands. In St Peter Port on Guernsey, walk between winding terraces and cascading gardens. Visit the world’s smallest church on a tour of the island* and enjoy majestic views of the English Channel on a coastal walk* along steep cliffs and through pine forests.

St Malo/France, 1.00 – 19.15 hrs

St Malo, the home of the corsairs in the 17th and 18th centuries, is surrounded by fortifications. It isn’t far from here to the monastery island of Mont Saint-Michel*. The location of this UNESCO World Heritage Site in the middle of the sea is just as fascinating as the towering abbey itself, which dates back to Norman times. Oyster farming is also a long-standing tradition in Brittany. In Cancale*, the self-proclaimed “oyster capital”, you can gain insights into the work of the fishermen and even try the highly sought-after seafood.

Honfleur/France, 7.00 – 18.00 hrs

Honfleur is a treasure of Normandy with its picturesque harbour and half-timbered buildings on winding streets. Celebrities gather in Deauville*, where the beach promenade is surrounded by elegant buildings. Alternatively, explore the Pays d’Auge* with its gently contoured hills and try the regional speciality, calvados.

Antwerp/Belgium, 13.00 – 19.00 hrs

We then reach Antwerp , the richest trading port in Europe in the 16th century, via the Western Scheldt. The guildhalls surrounding the Grote Markt, which you can explore on a city tour together with the Rubens House*, attest to this wealth. Alternatively, be enveloped by the splendour of the Flemish guildhalls and the artwork of the Ghent Altarpiece on a tour through Ghent*.

Amsterdam/Netherlands, 9.00 – 0.00 hrs

The “Venice of the North” awaits you in Amsterdam. Its special charm will bewitch you on a city tour plus canal cruise* through the historic centre. Alternatively, dive into the art of Delft tiles* and take the opportunity to design your own tile; a personalised farewell gift before your cruise comes to an end in Hamburg.
