See the Star Flyer deck plan

Cruises on the Star Flyer

They are the stars of the sea. Star Clipper and Star Flyer are as fleet as the wind and as graceful as swans.

These are true clipper ships reflecting their proud heritage in every inch of their polished brass and gleaming brightwork. Step aboard these unique vessels and discover a new age of sail, where the traditions of the past are happily married to the comforts and amenities of the present day. Star Clipper and Star Flyer are modern cruise ships in every way, created for luxury-loving passengers who also love the traditions and romance of the legendary era of sailing ships. Star Clipper and Star Flyer are both 360 feet long and each carries just 170 guests in pampered comfort.

Life aboard is blissfully relaxed, much like traveling on a private yacht. You’ll never feel confined on Star Clipper or Star Flyer. Each ship offer spacious accommodations and expansive teak decks with ample space and not one, but two swimming pools. In fact, you’ll find that these ships offer more outdoor space per passenger than most conventional cruise ships.

The décor of Star Clipper and Star Flyer is reminiscent of the grand age of sail. Antique prints and paintings of famous sailing ships please the eye, while teak and gleaming mahogany rails are richly reminiscent of Star Clippers’ proud nautical heritage.

All Star Clippers ships feature open-seating dining in an elegantly appointed dining room, our convivial indoor-outdoor Tropical Bar and Piano Bar, and an Edwardian style library where a Belle Époque fireplace glows with a warmth that reflects the friendliness and enthusiasm of Star Clippers’ hospitable officers and crew.

Water sports are all included.
Enjoy snorkeling, paddle boarding, Sunfish sailing, water skiing & wind surfing all at no charge!

SmallShips.travel | Royal Clipper

Royal Clipper

THE LARGEST FULL-RIGGED SAILING SHIP IN THE WORLD.

See the Royal Clipper deck plan

Cruises on the Royal Clipper

In 1902, the largest, fastest sailing ship the world had ever seen was launched. The legendary Preussen dominated the seas, only to be gone in a few short years. Neither before nor since had the world seen such a magnificent sailing ship. Until today…

Inspired by the tall ship Preussen, the Royal Clipper has the proud distinction of being the largest and only five-masted full-rigged sailing ship built since her predecessor was launched at the beginning of the last century. With her complement of 42 sails, Royal Clipper is a splendid sight to behold.

You might think she was an apparition from the grand age of sail, but Royal Clipper is as new as tomorrow, boasting state-of-the-art navigation systems and every comfort and luxury one could wish for. For connoisseurs of sail cruising, the 439 foot Royal Clipper offers the ultimate sea-going experience, balancing the grandeur, adventure and tradition of sailing with the superb service, amenities and accommodations of the finest modern yacht. Royal Clipper carries just 227 guests in luxurious style. A full 19,000 square feet of open deck and three swimming pools create a wonderfully spacious and expansive outdoor environment.

Find your secret hideaway on one of the hidden balconies on either side of the bow. Or climb the mast (with safety harness provided) to one of the passenger lookout crows-nests, thoughtfully furnished with a comfortable settee, where you’ll have the grandest view of all!

Royal Clipper’s interior spaces are just as dazzling. They include a three-deck atrium that funnels sunlight into the elegantly appointed, three-level dining room featuring open-seating dining, deliciously prepared cuisine and a no-tie dress code.

A convenient marina platform lowers from the stern for watersports. And the ultimate unique Royal Clipper experience, the one-of-a-kind Captain Nemo Lounge, is the site of our spa and health club with underwater glass portholes!

SmallShips.travel | Amazon Cruises

La Estrella Amazonica Ship Information

MY Tucano Ship Information

Voyage into the heart of the Amazon and explore its beauty and diversity up close. Aboard a small ship you’ll have comfortable accomodations as you venture into the Amazon with experienced guides for your most memorable vacation yet! Whether you’re interested in an active expedition, or would rather relax and observe the exotic wildlife – the Amazon in an unforgettable experience.

Our cruises are the most informative, active, and authentic trips in all of the Amazon. Why?

  • Authenticity: Our trips go beyond the tourist experience of most trips to the Amazon. We visit areas that are not visited by other groups and see flora and fauna that are almost never seen on other Amazon trips.

  • Active: Our cruises have several excursions off the boat every day. We venture out in our ship’s launches exploring quiet tributaries, we walk in the forest, stroll through small villages, and on some days we have optional kayak explorations of the flooded forest. Travelers can choose whatever level of activity they wish because we divide into smaller groups each with a guide. Our cruises are appropriate both for travelers who wish an active experience and those who prefer quiet thoughtful observation of nature.

  • Small Groups: We take a maximum of 18 (MY Tucano) or 31 (Estrella Amazonica) travelers. With our small groups, the cruises are more focused on the rainforest and, importantly, travelers can spend more time with the guides which makes it a much better experience.

  • Comfortable Vessel and High Quality Service: Though not a luxury vessel, the M/Y Tucano is a comfortable and well appointed expeditionary vessel. All the cabins are outside cabins with private baths and air-conditioning. The vessel has style and elegance with lots of polished brass and varnished woodwork. We have a large crew that keeps the vessel clean and helps travelers in every way possible to enjoy the trip.

  • Highly Skilled Guides: Our naturalist guides are some of the very best in the Amazon. They are skilled bilingual naturalists and their experience helps passengers unlock the secrets of the magnificent wildlife of the rainforest.

Join us Today for an Experience of a Lifetime!

SmallShips.travel | MY Tucano

MY Tucano

The Amazon Odyssey cruise visits the most essential areas to observe the wildlife and culture of the rainforest. Our journey especially concentrates on remote Amazon forest along the tributary the Rio Negro and also on the Amazon River. During the cruise we walk in towering rainforests, glide along narrow streams deep in the forest, and explore flooded grasslands that stretch from horizon to horizon. Though a compact cruise, the Amazon Odyssey is able to experience the many different environments of the Amazon, teeming with life.

We embark in Manaus, Brasil and travel on the classic and elegant MOTOR YACHT TUCANO. Though not a luxury vessel, the M/Y TUCANO is comfortable and is designed to enable us to explore small tributaries and hidden channels where wildlife can be found but where larger vessels cannot go.

Our cruise experience is much more authentic than the typical or luxury Amazon tours. All aspects of the cruise are designed to help us enjoy the best that the Amazon has to offer. We have a small group size, highly trained guides, a talented crew, a comfortable boat, and with 24 years of cruise operations, our activities are thoughtful and detailed. Another important advantage is that our cruises appeal to travelers who are looking for a fun but also very genuine experience. All these features combined enable us to discover and enjoy an authentic Amazon that eludes almost all other travelers.

In order to be able to experience the wild Amazon forest, the first days of the cruise are spent on the Rio Negro where there are forests that are hardly changed for millions of years. The last day of the cruise is spent on the Amazon River itself. There are three or four excursions off the vessel every day. Early mornings we usually glide along quiet channels in our launches among giant rainforest trees draped with vines and orchids. The silence is broken only by the rustling of leaves by Squirrel Monkeys feeding or by the occasional piercing shriek of a Screaming Piha bird. During the day we walk in the forest and sometimes visit a small community. Some nights we search for nocturnal creatures in our launches out in the star filled darkness.

The Amazon Odyssey takes us to a variety of environments including dark flooded forests, dense high forest with towering trees and dense undergrowth, and vast open plains of waving grass which are home to some of the most spectacular wildlife of the Amazon. On lazy afternoons we may fish for the famous Amazon resident, the Piranha, some of whom we may see again on an appetizer plate. During our voyage we will weave through the narrow winding channels of the Rio Negro as wells as enjoying the magnificent vistas of the mighty Amazon River itself. Most travelers are astonished by the scale and grandeur of this majestic waterway that drains a continent.

On the Amazon Odyssey we not only focus on the rainforest, but also on the culture of the people who live in this vast wilderness. We visit small fishing villages perched on the river bank where the traditional life is still guided by the rhythms of the rise and fall of the river. We also visit the homesteads of families who make and grow almost everything they need. For many travelers these visits with local settlers, whose lives are so dramatically different from ours, are some of the most memorable experiences of the cruise. Another fascinating visit is a stop at one of the bustling river trading towns. Here a vibrant river trade continues as it has for centuries. The last evening of the cruise we will coast along one of the greatest ports in the world, the Porto de Manaus. At our farewell dinner we will have the opportunity to reflect on our extraordinary experience and offer a toast to one of the most remarkable places on Earth.

The Observation Deck runs the length of the entire upper deck on the M/Y Tucano. Guests can go forward and watch the crew navigate the vessel, sit comfortably under the canopy and scan the canopy for monkeys and birds, or simply swing in a hammock in lazy comfort. This deck is open and an exceptional place to observe wildlife. The forward balcony allows views to the front and into the treetops. From beneath the sun canopy we see the world’s greatest collection of birds and the occasional monkey cavorting in the branches. From the top deck there is wilderness as far as the eye can see.The top deck is a wonderful place to lounge around as we cruise along the wilderness river.

From this deck the immensity of the Amazon becomes clear. From horizon to horizon we see forest and rivers, and almost completely undeveloped. We can appreciate how the all of world once was, a vast wilderness whose only sounds are the wind, the calls of animals, and the lapping of waves on remote uninhabited shores. It is a magnificent view and experience, and we are treated to it every day during the trip.

The balcony around the front of the boat is a wonderful place to pull up a chair and observe the forest close up. The salon is airy and has windows all the way around. All of the walls are paneled in lovely hardwood. Two cabins on this deck have a single beds separated by a night stand. Two other cabins have a bunk bed with a twin size mattress above and below. All of the cabins have private showers and sinks.

The Mid-deck balcony has connecting doors to the Salon. It is a wonderful place to relax with a good book, sip a glass of wine, a soft drink or a beer, or simply to marvel at the splendor of the last great wilderness on Earth.

Two cabins on this deck have single beds separated by a nightstand. By inserting a third narrow bed in the middle, these cabins can also accommodate three persons. Two other cabins number have a bunk bed with a twin size mattress above and below. All of the cabins have private showers and sinks. There is a full galley and a swim deck at the stern. We get in and out of our launches to the side of the boat through two entries designed for this purpose.

Upcoming Voyages

Deck Plan & Ship Information

 Luxurious Details, Exquisite Destinations

A sleek silhouette, a welcoming intimate atmosphere, discover aboard this new ship the philosophy that has made our sisterships such a success: the spirit of Yacht Cruises.

Sailing under the French flag, this magnificent yacht of only 122 staterooms and Suites, with balconies, will join our fleet in April 2015. You will be enchanted by the contemporary decor inspired by the our destinations and the blue light of the Vega star in the Lyra constellation. The result is a subtle variation around a palette of blues, ranging from the  luminous delicate grey-blue of the Polar ice to splashes of the vivid turquoise blue found in  Mediterranean coves

A refined ambiance is enhanced by the quality of the workmanship and materials: white Corian counters in the lobby contrast with the warmth of leather to recall a boat’s hull, while the central sculpture of enamelled pieces takes its inspiration from the sea. In the loungebar, the carpet picks up a tennis stripe theme symbolising a certain idea of cruising, one synonymous with French elegance and a chic seaside spirit.

The Cabins

A sheltered haven at sea, our cabins are designed togive you maximum comfort. All are ocean-view, the majority with private balcony, plus DVD player, Ipod™

station, internet access, espresso machines (for suites) etc. Some cabins are flexible and communicating, so we can welcome families with children in ideal conditions.
